This is where the shop began, and where it is most itself. Some of it we designed ourselves: house pieces in full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather, named for the terms of the practice and backed by a five-year warranty. Some we carry because the maker's name is the argument — Korchmar, an American maker four generations in, building in factories of its own; and Time Resistance, whose Italian Vachetta leather anchors the women's line. The Silk is the one we point to first; the range runs from a luggage tag to a wheeled catalog case, and the right answer depends on what you haul, and how far.
One decision here is larger than the rest — the briefcase, the piece you carry daily for years, and the one where the house-versus-maker choice is starkest. What briefcase do trial lawyers actually carry? For a hearing, a structured frame case — The Silk, or Korchmar's Churchill. Is a padfolio appropriate for a deposition? Yes — it is the quietest object on the table. A padfolio holds a legal pad and a pen and closes in one motion; a zip portfolio holds what you did not arrive with. See Padfolio, or Portfolio?
What does full-grain, vegetable-tanned mean? Full-grain is the top layer of the hide left intact, scars and all; vegetable tanning uses tree tannins over weeks rather than chrome salts over a day. Together they produce leather that darkens and improves with use instead of wearing out.
Do you monogram? No. We do not monogram, emboss or engrave any piece, house or curated. The ampersand seal and the makers' own marks are the only marking you will find.
What is the warranty? House pieces carry our Five-Year Limited Warranty. Curated pieces carry their maker's warranty — Korchmar five years, Time Resistance lifetime — and our own Thirty-Day Assurance on top. Full terms are in the Warranty Policy.
