The date that matters most is usually set standing up. The judge asks when the parties can return; opposing counsel names a week; you need to know, now, whether you are free — and the phone is either in the bag, in the car, or not allowed in the building. This is the book for that. Two pages to the week, a monthly section behind it that runs two full years, and a cover thin enough that you forget it is in the pocket until you need it.

It is the pocket version of a bigger book, not a lesser one. Sewn signatures, ivory paper gilded at the edges, a ribbon, notes pages and the reference section at the back — the same construction as the desk-sized planners, cut to a page that fits a shirt pocket. The trade is real and worth stating: the day is a few lines rather than a column of half-hours, so it holds the fact of an appointment better than the shape of a whole day. The cover is full-grain leather — Monhegan, a soft, slightly textured finish that shows the variation of the hide, or Tremont, a goat-grain finish that is clearly visible and consistent from cover to cover. Six colors, because this book ships from the maker rather than from our shelf. Black disappears into a suit. The others do not, which is sometimes the point.

Pocket or Professional? Where will the book be when the date is set? If the answer is a desk, get the Professional and its half-hour lines. If the answer is a courthouse corridor, a client's conference room, or anywhere the phone is put away, get this one. Choose based on where you are standing when someone asks "when can you do it," not on the size of the page, and you'll rarely choose wrong.

What are the date ranges, exactly? The weekly section runs January through December 2027. The months-at-a-glance section runs July 2026 through June 2028, so a date set well past December has a page.

Is there a wider version? The maker makes one, at 6 by 4.25 inches, but only in bonded leather, and we carry Gallery Leather in full-grain only. This is the regular size, 6 by 3.25, and it is the one that fits a shirt pocket.

How does it ship? Directly from Gallery Leather's bindery in Trenton, Maine, in a gift box, under our name — nothing in the box carries anyone else's pricing or paperwork. That is how we can offer six colors instead of one. Unpersonalized planners typically leave the bindery within a few business days; personalized ones usually within eight, and ten at the outside.

How does personalization work? Choose it when you order — initials, one line, or two — and enter the text on this page. The maker foil-stamps it in the lower right corner of the cover in gold, silver or white, or blind-debosses it with no foil at all. Type is set in all capitals or upper-and-lower, and on a cover this size the maker sizes the lettering to the space, so shorter is better. Personalized planners are made to your order and cannot be returned or exchanged unless the personalization error is the maker's. Personalization adds time, because the book is stamped after you order it rather than pulled off a shelf. Figure eight business days at the bindery, ten at the outside; an unpersonalized planner leaves in a few. The wait is the work.

Will mine look like the photograph? Close, but not identical. Monhegan and Tremont are full-grain finishes that show the natural variation of the hide, so the grain and the way it takes the light differ from cover to cover. The photograph is one book, not a template.

Where is it made? Assembled at Gallery Leather's facility in Trenton, Maine. The leather comes from the Valencia region of Spain and the book block from a supplier in Korea. Gallery Leather does not claim "Made in the USA" without the qualification the law requires of it, and neither do we.

What does the guarantee cover? Construction, at any time. In Gallery Leather's own words, if for any reason you are dissatisfied with the construction of one of its products, it will repair or replace it, without question, free of charge.
