The Recess is a full-grain leather luggage tag for the briefcase, the garment bag, or the case that goes in the overhead bin — one clear, durable way to mark it as yours.

A small, durable detail built to the same standard as the rest of the line — brass hardware, vegetable-tanned leather, and a flap that keeps a name and address card secure and out of sight until it's needed. It is named for the recess because that is when a bag is most often left alone, and when a tag earns its keep.

Questions we are asked

Why a flap over the window? Because a name and firm on an open tag is a briefing for anyone who reads it in a taxi queue. The flap keeps it private until a baggage handler needs it.

Will the brass buckle scratch a leather bag? Brass is softer than steel and the buckle sits on a leather strap; a mark, if any, polishes out.

Is a firm gift of these practical? Yes, and it is one of the pieces our For Firms page points to for a new class of associates — identical across the run, and useful on the first business trip.

Care. Full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather darkens and softens with use. Wipe with a dry cloth, keep it out of standing water and off radiators, and condition sparingly with a colourless leather cream once or twice a year. Scuffs generally rub out with a fingertip.
