The Sound of the Mountain — Leather Briefcase
The Sound of the Mountain is the briefcase with nothing to prove — classic, unassuming, for the lawyer who would rather be remembered for the argument than for the luggage.
Some briefcases announce a position. This one declines to. It carries a full 15-inch machine and the day's paper, then goes quiet — under an arm, beside a chair, across the handlebars of the last half-mile. It suits the charcoal suit and the Saturday file run alike, which is precisely its argument.

One design, one cut: this case is carried by men and women alike, and we don't pretend otherwise with a second listing. The measurements above are the whole story — judge the fit by them, not by a department heading.
The name is the maker's. The Sound of the Mountain is Yasunari Kawabata's 1954 novel — a book built almost entirely of things left unsaid. Kawabata became the first Japanese writer to take the Nobel Prize in Literature, in 1968. A quiet case wears the name well.
