The Onyx Humidor — 50 Cigar

Price$89.90

Fifty cigars is the deliberate choice, not the compromise: large enough to hold a working collection at a stable climate, and small enough to live on a study desk or credenza rather than in a closet. Past that, you are not keeping cigars — you are warehousing them.

Glossy black lacquer with a routed linear motif on all four sides, lined in Spanish cedar. Polished silver hardware, a black face hygrometer, adjustable divider, and a silver lock and key set.

  • Capacity: up to 50 cigars
  • Spanish cedar lined
  • Routed linear design, high gloss black lacquer
  • Polished silver hardware and lock & key set
  • Black face hygrometer and humidifier
  • 11 1/2" W x 9 1/2" D x 4 3/4" H

Why this is the one we point to. We made the case for roughly fifty cigars in Field Guide No. 04 — a collection rather than a warehouse — and then went looking for the humidor that met it. This is that humidor. It is not the most expensive box we sell, and it was never meant to be.

Cigars shown are for illustration only and not included — your own selections have surely already rested their case.

Before First Use

A humidor arrives dry and must be seasoned before it will hold a climate. Wipe the interior cedar with a cloth dampened in distilled water, soak the humidifier in distilled water and blot it dry, then close the humidor over a small dish of distilled water for 48 to 72 hours. Confirm the hygrometer holds steadily between 65% and 72% before loading cigars.

Distilled water only — tap water carries minerals that stain the cedar and foul the humidifier. Recharge every two to four weeks, calibrate the hygrometer twice a year, and keep the humidor out of direct sunlight and away from vents. Humidification supplies are not included; distilled water and two-way humidity packets are widely available.

Sized for a desk in silver and black. For the same capacity in mahogany with gold hardware, see the Bellevue; for a smaller collection still finding its size, see the Vizcaya. To check the hygrometer this one ships with, see the calibrated digital hygrometer.
