A matte-black lacquered humidor open on a mahogany credenza, cedar interior and cigars in low light

Daniel Marshall

Daniel Marshall has built humidors in California since 1982; his first commercial order came from Alfred Dunhill, and the workshop has since made boxes under its own name and for houses including Tiffany, Cartier and S.T. Dupont. Cigar Aficionado rated a Daniel Marshall humidor second of all boxes tested in 1999 and first in 2003 — the workshop's record, not this model's, and we say so plainly.

This page gathers what we carry from the workshop: the Ambiente 65 in hand-lacquered black matte, Spanish cedar throughout, gold-plated hinges and lock, guaranteed for life. Its sixty-five is a corona count; loaded with the larger ring gauges most people smoke it holds forty-five to fifty, which is the size our Field Guide argues for. On why fifty, and on seasoning it before the first cigar goes in, read A Cigar, Counselor? and Season It, or Ruin It?
