Xikar Volta Quad-Jet Tabletop Lighter

Some tools are meant to be carried. This one is meant to stay put — on the study desk, the club table, the terrace rail where the evening actually happens.

The Xikar Volta is a tabletop lighter built around four jets rather than one, which is the practical difference between coaxing a cigar alight and simply lighting it. The oversized ignition button sits flush against a cylindrical metal body; the burners live behind a lid that irises open like a camera aperture with a quick twist of the top, keeping dust and ash out between uses. A red fuel window tells you where you stand before your guest arrives, not after.

At roughly 1.2 pounds it has the heft a tabletop lighter needs — it stays where you set it and doesn't skate across the desk when you press the ignition.

• Quad-jet torch flame, wind resistant
• Metal alloy body, black finish — approx. 1.2 lbs
• Camera aperture-inspired lid protects the burners
• Ratcheting oversized flame adjustment wheel
• EZ-view red fuel window
• Refillable; altitude tested to 12,000 ft
• Ships dry — butane sold separately

A word on flame. In A Cigar, Counselor? we make the case for soft flame as the civilized indoor default. The Volta is the other argument — the desk-and-terrace instrument, where speed and wind resistance matter more than ceremony. Most practices eventually want both.

Built to stay on the desk, and too heavy to do anything else. For the same four jets in a pocket body, see the HP4; for the cutter that belongs beside it, see the S.T. Dupont Cutter Stand.

Questions we are asked

Why is it so heavy? At roughly 1.2 pounds it stays where you set it and doesn't skate across the desk when you press the ignition. It is built to stay on the desk, not to be carried.

How does the lid work? A quick twist of the top opens it like a camera aperture. Closed, it keeps dust and ash off the burners.

Does it arrive fueled? No. It ships dry, and butane is sold separately. The red fuel window shows the level.

What is the warranty? Xikar's limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, with no registration or receipt required. Xikar may return a refurbished equivalent rather than a new one.

Barrister & Bespoke Curated Collection — hand-selected from Xikar, for its craftsmanship and fit within our world. Curated pieces carry their maker's own identity rather than ours; our house collection, designed and branded exclusively for Barrister & Bespoke, is marked separately throughout the shop.

Why we carry it. Most of what a maker claims about quality cannot be checked before you buy. A warranty can. Xikar covers these pieces for life against manufacturing defects, with no registration and no receipt required, and states plainly that it may return a refurbished equivalent rather than a new one. That is a commitment written down and honored by a named distributor, rather than a claim about craftsmanship you would have to take on faith. We curate Xikar on that.

Warranty. Covered by Xikar's limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, and by Barrister & Bespoke's own Thirty-Day Assurance for the first thirty days after delivery. After that, claims are handled directly by Quality Importers, Xikar's distributor — no registration or receipt required. Normal wear, misuse, and consumables are excluded, as are lighters confiscated by TSA or another travel authority. Lighters must be shipped empty of butane. Xikar determines the remedy at its discretion and may replace an item with a refurbished equivalent. Full terms are stated in our Warranty Policy.

A note for travelers. Torch lighters are prohibited in both carry-on and checked baggage. Plan accordingly before a deposition or conference — and note that confiscated lighters are not covered under warranty. Ships without fuel in compliance with hazardous materials requirements.

Returns. A lighter may be returned within thirty days if it is unused and in its original packaging. Every lighter ships unfueled; once butane has been added it is Final Sale and cannot be returned or exchanged, except where it arrives damaged, defective, or materially different from its description. Full terms are in our Returns & Exchanges Policy.
