S.T. Dupont Slim Cigar Cutter — Black Lacquer & Chrome
The S.T. Dupont Slim cigar cutter in black lacquer and chrome is a guillotine seven millimetres thick with a 23 mm aperture — a 58 ring gauge — and a 2.7 mm cutting depth set by the mechanism rather than by your eye. The maison catalogues it as the Cigar Stand Slim, because the same object doubles as a rest for the cigar between draws. It is the cutter for counsel who want the cut decided in advance.
The depth is the detail that matters. Most bad cuts go below the cap's shoulder, and the wrapper unravels; this cutter takes 2.7 mm and no more, so the decision is made before the blade moves. Pull the guilloché crown to open the blade, push to cut. The face is black lacquer framed in chrome with the signature bar across it — 2.4 by 1.6 inches, 2.1 ounces, flat enough to ride in a cigar case.
The maison's own description is the whole specification: "23 mm diameter and 2.7 mm cutting depth." Twenty-three millimetres is a 58 ring gauge, which covers everything short of a gordo.

Questions we are asked
What does the depth guide do? It stops the blade at 2.7 mm, which is above the shoulder on any cigar you are likely to be handed. The cap comes off; the wrapper stays put.
What ring gauge does it take? Up to 58. A 60 gordo will not fit; nothing else in a working humidor is excluded.
How does it work as a stand? The maison names it the Cigar Stand Slim and dealers describe it doubling as a rest. We have not photographed it in that role yet and will, once ours arrive.
Pocket or desk? Pocket. At 7 mm it rides in a cigar case; the object built for the desk is the cutter stand.

Built to travel flat. For the desk, see the S.T. Dupont cutter stand; for the spring-loaded cutter with the wider grip, the Maxijet cigar cutter.
Barrister & Bespoke Curated Collection — hand-selected from S.T. Dupont, the Paris maison that has made leather cases since 1872 and lighters since 1941, for its craftsmanship and fit within our world. Curated pieces carry their maker's own identity rather than ours; our house collection, designed and branded exclusively for Barrister & Bespoke, is marked separately throughout the shop.
Why we carry it. S.T. Dupont began where we did. Simon Tissot-Dupont opened a Paris workshop in 1872 making document cases, briefcases, and travel trunks for diplomats and businessmen — objects whose quality lived in hinges, locks, frames, and fittings. The lighter, four decades on, was the same discipline applied to a smaller object. The workshop has been at Faverges in the Haute-Savoie since 1924, took in its first master lacquerer in 1935, and holds the French state's Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant designation for living heritage craft. We sell leather cases for a living. So did they, first.
Warranty. This Product carries S.T. Dupont's two-year warranty against manufacturing defects, and Barrister & Bespoke's own Thirty-Day Assurance for the first thirty days after delivery. Full terms, including how to make a claim, are stated in our Warranty Policy.
