S.T. Dupont Maxijet Cigar Cutter — Black & Chrome, Ring Gauge 52
The S.T. Dupont Maxijet cigar cutter in black and chrome is a double-blade guillotine that opens on a spring and cuts to a 52 ring gauge — a pocket cutter from the maison's torch-lighter family, not the desk stand. It is the cutter for counsel who carry the ritual with them rather than keeping it in a study.
Press once and the two blades spring open; press to cut and the cap comes off in one motion from both sides at once, which is what stops a wrapper tearing. The maison's line is "spring-loaded mechanisms and razor-sharp blades for a perfect cut time after time"; it does not publish the blade steel, and neither do we. The body is chrome with a black lacquer face and the signature across the bottom — 2.8 by 1.8 inches, 3.7 ounces, flat enough for a jacket pocket and heavy enough to feel like a tool.
Ring gauge 52 covers a corona, a robusto, a toro and a Churchill. A 56 or a 60 wants the wider aperture of the cutter stand.

Questions we are asked
Is a double guillotine better than a single? For a cut away from a desk, yes. Two blades close from both sides at once, so the cap shears instead of tearing when you cut one-handed.
What ring gauge does it take? Up to 52. That is most of what a humidor holds; for a 56 or a gordo, the cutter stand is cut wider.
What are the blades made of? The maison says "razor-sharp" and leaves it there. We do the same rather than guess.
Pocket or desk? Pocket. It stands on its base, but the object built to live beside the humidor is the stand.
Deciding between cutters, lighters, humidors, and ashtrays? Read A Cigar, Counselor?.
Built to travel. For a cutter that stays beside the humidor, see the S.T. Dupont cutter stand; for the maison's thinner cutter that doubles as a rest, the Slim cigar cutter.
Barrister & Bespoke Curated Collection — hand-selected from S.T. Dupont, the Paris maison that has made leather cases since 1872 and lighters since 1941, for its craftsmanship and fit within our world. Curated pieces carry their maker's own identity rather than ours; our house collection, designed and branded exclusively for Barrister & Bespoke, is marked separately throughout the shop.
Why we carry it. S.T. Dupont began where we did. Simon Tissot-Dupont opened a Paris workshop in 1872 making document cases, briefcases, and travel trunks for diplomats and businessmen — objects whose quality lived in hinges, locks, frames, and fittings. The lighter, four decades on, was the same discipline applied to a smaller object. The workshop has been at Faverges in the Haute-Savoie since 1924, took in its first master lacquerer in 1935, and holds the French state's Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant designation for living heritage craft. We sell leather cases for a living. So did they, first.
Warranty. This Product carries S.T. Dupont's two-year warranty against manufacturing defects, and Barrister & Bespoke's own Thirty-Day Assurance for the first thirty days after delivery. Full terms, including how to make a claim, are stated in our Warranty Policy.
