XhaleX Dual Wing Cigar Cutter — Black

Two stainless steel wings, opened by a spring and closed by your hand. There is no straight blade sliding across the cap here — the wings pivot in from either side and meet, which is a different motion, and a more forgiving one on a wide ring gauge.

The body is anodized aluminum, .22" thick, flat enough to disappear in a jacket pocket, and the blades retract into it. It springs open at a touch and locks when you squeeze it shut, so it will not open against your keys. It cuts up to a 64 ring gauge — past where most parejos stop.

Wing blades or a double guillotine is a real choice and not a matter of price. Wings close from either side around a wide cap and take a 64 ring without complaint; a double guillotine — the Xikar Xi1 — drives two straight blades together in a steel whose grade and hardness are published, and is the finer cut on anything it can actually fit. Questions we get

What ring gauge will it take? Up to 64, which covers nearly everything short of a true gordo.

Will it open in a pocket? No. It springs open at a touch but locks closed when squeezed, and the wings retract into the body — which is what you want beside a phone and a set of keys.

Wing blades or a guillotine? Wings pivot in from both sides and clear a wide cap easily. A double guillotine drives two straight blades together for a cleaner edge, but within a narrower range. At a 64 ring the wings win; at 50 the guillotine does.
