S.T. Dupont Minijet Lighter — Matte Black & Palladium

Price$190.00

The S.T. Dupont Minijet in matte black and palladium is the maison's compact, everyday torch: 2.1 inches tall, a blue jet under a curved plated cap, and a matte black body that takes a coat pocket all winter without complaint. It is the lighter for counsel who want the Dupont flame in the smallest object that will hold it.

The maison describes it as "a compact, modern lighter that's perfect for everyday use", which is the right register. This is the lighter that lights a cigarette in the wind on the courthouse steps, a small cigar on the walk to the car, and a candle when the power goes; the maison lists it as a cigarette lighter, and a wide cigar foot is a job for the Maxijet. The grip is shaped to the hand and the ignition is a thumb press.

It is, by the maison's after-sales terms, replaced rather than repaired under warranty. It takes the maison's black butane refill and ships empty.

Questions we are asked

Cigar or cigarette? Both, within reason. The maison files it as a cigarette lighter; a corona lights easily, and a wide ring gauge is better served by the Maxijet or the Biggy.

Can I fly with it? No. Torch lighters may not be carried aboard aircraft, so this is the one to leave at the law office rather than pack.

Can it be repaired? S.T. Dupont replaces rather than repairs this model: its after-sales terms state that a defective Minijet, Maxijet or Slim 7 is exchanged for an identical one. We would rather you knew that before buying than after.

What fuel does it take? Any triple-refined butane will light it; the maison specifies its own black refill (ref. 000430) for the torch models. It ships empty, as every lighter we sell does.

Built for the coat pocket. For a torch you would hand across a desk, see the Maxijet; for a soft flame that also stands up to weather, the Windproof.

Barrister & Bespoke Curated Collection — hand-selected from S.T. Dupont, the Paris maison that has made leather cases since 1872 and lighters since 1941, for its craftsmanship and fit within our world. Curated pieces carry their maker's own identity rather than ours; our house collection, designed and branded exclusively for Barrister & Bespoke, is marked separately throughout the shop.

Why we carry it. S.T. Dupont began where we did. Simon Tissot-Dupont opened a Paris workshop in 1872 making document cases, briefcases, and travel trunks for diplomats and businessmen — objects whose quality lived in hinges, locks, frames, and fittings. The lighter, four decades on, was the same discipline applied to a smaller object. The workshop has been at Faverges in the Haute-Savoie since 1924, took in its first master lacquerer in 1935, and holds the French state's Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant designation for living heritage craft. We sell leather cases for a living. So did they, first.

Warranty. This Product carries S.T. Dupont's two-year warranty against manufacturing defects, and Barrister & Bespoke's own Thirty-Day Assurance for the first thirty days after delivery. Lighters ship unfueled, and torch lighters may not be carried aboard aircraft. Full terms, including how to make a claim, are stated in our Warranty Policy.

Returns. A lighter may be returned within thirty days if it is unused and in its original packaging. Every lighter ships unfueled; once butane has been added it is Final Sale and cannot be returned or exchanged, except where it arrives damaged, defective, or materially different from its description. Full terms are in our Returns & Exchanges Policy.
