S.T. Dupont Iconic Billfold Wallet — Black

Price$375.00

The S.T. Dupont Iconic Billfold in Black is a slim leather bifold for the lawyer who wants a wallet that is recognized when it comes out of the pocket — at the bar association dinner, at the club, across the table after the closing. On the front sits a small silver-tone plaque cut in the outline of a Dupont lighter, the maison's best-known object reduced to a signature. Inside, at the fold, runs a blue-white-red stitched trim that the maison calls its nod to French craftsmanship.

The Iconic line is drawn from the "Bogie" — the lightweight travel bag S.T. Dupont says Humphrey Bogart asked its artisans to make for flights and for weekends aboard his yacht, Santana. The wallet leaves the collection's canvas behind and keeps its two signatures. Black leather, one bright detail, and a name that has been on leather goods since 1872.

It suits two owners. One already carries a Dupont lighter or pen and wants the wallet to answer to the same name; the plaque sits naturally beside the Ligne 2 in black and palladium. The other owns no Dupont at all and simply wants a wallet with a signature of its own. The billfold serves both the same way: it is noticed, and it does not need to be explained.

Our own Retainer is the quieter wallet — eight card slots, a divided bill section, an RFID lining, no name on the outside, at less than half the price. The Iconic holds six cards and a fold of bills, and carries the maison's mark where it can be seen. Choose on whether your wallet should speak or keep its counsel, not on the price, and you'll rarely choose wrong.

Questions we are asked

Is the plaque discreet? It is small — a lighter's silhouette in the lower corner, not a logo across the front. People who know S.T. Dupont will see it at once. People who don't will see a well-finished black wallet.

Do I need to own a Dupont lighter for it to make sense? No. The plaque refers to the lighter, but it stands on its own as the maison's mark.

How many cards will it take? Six, one to a slot, with bills in the compartment behind. It is built slim. If you routinely carry eight cards or more, The Retainer holds them.

Can it be engraved? No. We sell it as the maison finishes it.

Barrister & Bespoke Curated Collection — hand-selected from S.T. Dupont, the Paris maison that has made leather cases since 1872 and lighters since 1941, for its craftsmanship and fit within our world. Curated pieces carry their maker's own identity rather than ours; our house collection, designed and branded exclusively for Barrister & Bespoke, is marked separately throughout the shop.

Why we carry it. S.T. Dupont began where we did. Simon Tissot-Dupont opened a Paris workshop in 1872 making document cases, briefcases, and travel trunks for diplomats and businessmen — objects whose quality lived in hinges, locks, frames, and fittings. The lighter, four decades on, was the same discipline applied to a smaller object. The workshop has been at Faverges in the Haute-Savoie since 1924, took in its first master lacquerer in 1935, and holds the French state's Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant designation for living heritage craft. We sell leather cases for a living. So did they, first.

Warranty. This Product carries S.T. Dupont's two-year warranty against manufacturing defects, and Barrister & Bespoke's own Thirty-Day Assurance for the first thirty days after delivery. Full terms, including how to make a claim, are stated in our Warranty Policy.
